DAY 21: Alishan to Sun Moon Lake

The storm arrived last night! From 30 degrees just a day ago to 12 degrees this morning. It feels extremely cold and we dug out our wool clothing from the bottom of back packs! The drive to Sun Moon Lake was amazing! Most of it felt like driving through clouds with breaks of stunning overlooks from the road. Anna even saw a monkey family chilling in the trees! Sun Moon Lake was warmer but the weather forecast still not looking so good. We made the best out of the short pause of rain and went for a walk. The lake is beautiful. It seems that the reason the lake was named so varies but one theory is that the lakes shape resembles and new moon and the sun. Afterwards we grabbed dinner and ate something we’ve never had; ailanthus prickly ash leaves with tofu and fermented bamboo shoots. Insanely delicious. I was losing my mind.
